For our Recent Developments in Mississippi Law on-demand seminars, Joey Fillingane provides an insider's perspective on many of the new state statutes that impact practicing lawyers in the Magnolia State.

A long-time practicing attorney in the Forrest/Lamar County area, Joey is also one of the few lawyers still serving in the Mississippi Legislature.  He began his political service in the State House of Representatives in 2000.  Seven years later, he was elected to the upper chamber, and he has been representing parts of Covington, Forrest, J. Davis, Lamar, and Smith Counties in the State Senate ever since.  In the Senate he is Chair of the Judiciary B Committee and Vice-Chair of the Medicaid Committee.  He also serves on the Finance, Elections, Highways, Public Health & Welfare, and Universities and Colleges Committees.

Joey is an alumnus of The University of Southern Mississippi where he earned both bachelor's and masters degrees.  He then earned his J. D. at the Mississippi College School of Law.
