An all-new 2024 edition of our annual look at some of the biggest new trends in the law & law practice!  Presented in a fast-paced manner, with an emphasis on "what you need to know."  

A variety of topics will be covered, including new developments in litigation practice, transactional law practice, and ethics.  This includes an update on the current trends, legal restrictions, and ethics considerations surrounding the use of artificial intelligence in law practice.

8:30am - 9:55am:  #1) No future for non-competes? New federal regulation would ban most non-compete agreements.  But hold on - it's not a sure thing.  #2) Judgment Preservation Insurance. A new safety net for Plaintiffs?   #3) The rise of the paralegal practitioner. The legal profession taking a cue from the medical profession and giving paralegals more authority.

10:10am - 11:45am:  #4) Major changes in family law.  Long-standing norms in domestic relations are quickly changing.   #5) Alternative paths for becoming a lawyer. The next young lawyer you hire will likely come from a very different training experience than you had. Big changes are pending for law school admissions, law school curriculum, and attorney licensing requirements.   #6) Potential pitfall for business clients.  Surveys by Barristers show that a vast number of lawyers are neither aware of, or prepared for, the requirements of the new Corporate Transparency Act, and this could have serious consequences for law firms and their clients.
