Jim Catalano is the founding partner of The Catalano Firm where his law practice focuses on serving the needs of clients in a variety of areas. Having worked in large law firms for over 20 years he brings a breadth of experience combined with a uniquely independent approach to each case to achieve the best results for the client.

Jim handles client matters in a wide range of practice areas, including business transactions and litigation, healthcare, premises liability, professional liability, transportation, dealer franchise issues, catastrophic injuries, construction, intellectual property, products liability, banking, insurance, trade secrets and commercial real estate.  He also serves as a mediator.

Admitted to the bar in 1997 he is licensed in Tennessee and Kentucky and admitted to practice in all federal courts in Tennessee, the 4th, 6th, 11th and Federal Circuits as well as the U.S. Supreme Court.

Jim is a past member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, an invitation only organization whose members represent the leaders in trial experience. He has significant jury experience, including a recent jury trial during the pandemic, and is double board certified as a civil trial specialist and pre-trial specialist. He is AV rated by Martindale Hubble.

Jim is a graduate of William Jewell College and Cumberland School of Law at Samford University.  He is a Master of the Bench and current president with the Belmont Inns of Court where he mentors law students.  He also currently serves as a hearing officer for the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility.  He is a regular speaker on topics involving ethics and litigation.
